All fake humility aside, I know firsthand how much closer you live to the edge, sweating over whether you make a difference and whether the difference you&#8217;re making counts for anything. You ride the redline, balancing the smell of burning transmission fluid against the smell of burning tires, praying <em>hardest<\/em>, praying <em>always<\/em> for a little more traction.<\/p>\n<p>Because giving it a little less gas is never an option.<\/p>\n<p>Thank God for bourbon. But I&#8217;m mysteriously out of bourbon. So thank God for gin instead.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t believe you&#8217;ve found peace, David.
